Unless you believe that the Bible was written by one person, then the position of Agatha Christie as the best-selling author of all time seems secure.

“Murder on the Orient Express,” which was published in 1934, turned into a Kenneth Branagh film eighty years later, with a screenplay by Michael Green. Its plot follows Hercule Poirot, a world-renowned detective, as he seeks to solve a murder on the famous trans-European train, also known as the Orient Express, in the 1930s. Many facts has helped caused the movie to achieve a big hit.

This charming old-fashioned movie might cause fans of crime novels or especially murder mysteries to eat up as it is known as a thrilled murder mystery, so you can expect violence. Also, there's a verbal description of a terrible crime, the kidnapping and death of a child. Language is very minor, nothing stronger than "damn" and one of the character takes a barbiturate called Barbital and seems to be addicted and smokes. But else, the film is smart, colorful, and entertaining in a classical way, which means it may feel a little old-fashioned to some. This movie aimed at viewers who have a little bit of patience and who don't mind a little bit of the way things used to be as it comes with a lot of cliff-hangers and plot twisting, you’ll never see what’s coming next. Meanwhile, the movie is teen friendly, suggesting of the age of 13 and above and summarised by many as a beautiful looking movie as it is one of the few productions in recent decades to have used 65 mm film cameras.

Besides that, the other interesting fact of the movie was the selection of cast which stars well-known film stars. The team gain the opportunity to assemble the actors of fame from movie all over such as Kenneth Branagh from Harry Potter as the director and actor himself, Johnny Depp from Pirates of the Caribbean, Josh Gad which voiced as Olaf in Frozen, Daisy Ridley from Star Wars and many more. The technique of recruiting famous stars had help gain the attention of audiences quick and efficiently. It also build up expectation towards a production of a great film upcoming by the Hollywood of Fame.

Other than that, in personal opinion, as the director of the movie, Branagh did a great job in directing the movie as the production design and costume matches to the expectation of the generation then. Branagh might also be the best interpretation of the character, Poirot, comparing to the one back in the 70’s which was starred by actor Albert Finney, also equally excellent but as in the new version, Branagh brought out the character as more entertaining and consisted light-hearted moments but when he picks up on his clue and his brain starts working, therefore then you’ll witness the rapid-fire dialogue exploding which make him look even more impressive, also sustain more on the audience expectation of interesting.

There is more to discover in the movie such as its setting and story flow but that is up to the audiences to observe, no more spoilers! And to conclude, ‘Murder on the Orient Express’ might just be one of the top known thriller movie of the year due to its specialty and uniqueness which makes it more compatible than the previous one made back in the days and current. All hail to remaking more thrilled movies and producing more content for the film industry.
